Up to $5,000 Toward a FORTIFIED Roof
The Clean Energy Fund of the Carolinas offers FORTIFIED™ Roof grants to qualifying North Carolina households at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Open to both NCJUA/NCIUA policyholders and non-policyholders. This is a separate program from the NCIUA Strengthen Your Roof grants — not an add-on.
FORTIFIED™ Roof Grants for Income-Qualified Households
Through the Clean Energy Fund of the Carolinas (CEFC), qualifying North Carolina residents can get up to $5,000 toward the cost of an IBHS FORTIFIED roof. Grants are available to both NCJUA/NCIUA policyholders and non-policyholders whose household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Eligibility Requirements
North Carolina homeowner (NCJUA/NCIUA policyholder or non-policyholder).
Household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
Roof installed by a FORTIFIED-trained roofer.
How This Grant Helps
A FORTIFIED roof uses a wider drip edge and fully adhered starter strip, a sealed roof deck, and ring-shank nails in an enhanced pattern — features proven to help roofs stand up to severe weather. This CEFC grant helps income-qualified households cover up to $5,000 of that upgrade cost.
Important: This CEFC grant is a separate program, not an additional payout on top of the NCIUA Strengthen Your Roof grant. Eligibility is based on household income (≤200% FPL), not policy type or location.
